这部电影口碑尚好，原声则充满着浓浓的古典味，穿插了门德尔松（他也为莎翁的这部剧谱写了戏剧配乐，可算是最早最有名气的配乐家？）、普契尼、威尔第、马斯卡尼等浪漫乐派以及歌剧大师们的经典作品，古典界大腕女高音塞西莉亚·芭托莉(Cecilia Bartoli)、蕾妮·弗莱明(Renee Fleming)均有献声，原创配乐部分则由获得英国电影学院奖提名（BAFTA）的Simon Boswell操刀。
