一支来自伦敦的朋克乐队，自称是“故意学习得很差的学生”，乐队最初只发行了一张专辑，就成了朋克摇滚的经典《Germfree Adolescent》，其中的萨克斯部分尤其让人难忘（虽然吹萨克斯的成员很快就离队了）。
乐队在1979年时解散，随后只偶尔临时性重组一下，其中就包括1991年在布里克斯顿音乐学院举办的演出，当时门票被一抢而空。而1995年的重组则为乐队带来了第二张专辑《Conscious Consumer》，没找到。。。。
X-Ray Spex被认为是英国朋克史上最令人兴奋和具有创新精神的乐队之一，尤其因进步主义和女权主义观点而出名，其歌曲中的反消费主义主题更是独树一帜。
Poly Styrene已在2011年因乳腺癌去世，时年53岁。
