Sugarland乐队最初由三位来自亚特兰大的歌手和创作人组成，而三人在组建Sugarland之前在当地都已经是小有名气的歌手。前Soul Miner’s Daughter乐队主唱Jennifer Nettles凭借高亢的嗓音当之无愧的成为了Sugarland的主唱，而Kristen Hall在著名厂牌Windham Hill Records旗下曾发行过两张个人专辑，另一位成员 Kristian Bush也曾作为二人民谣组合Billy Pilgrim的成员发行过两张专辑。
2002年，三人开始正式在一起合作。同年，Sugarland自己发行了一张名叫《Premium Quality Tunes》Demo唱片。接下来，Sugarland在美国各地参加了多场演出，逐渐得到了广大歌迷的肯定。随后，Sugarland得到了Mercury Records的一纸合约，并在2004年初发行了一张两首歌(《Baby Girl》和《Stand Back Up》)的单曲碟。同年10月，Sugarland发行了由加斯·方迪斯(Garth Fundis)制作的首张正式专辑《Twice the Speed of Life》。随后，Sugarland的创始人之一，主要创作人Kristen Hall离开了乐队。2006年11月，Sugarland在Mercury Nashville公司的第二张专辑《Enjoy The Ride》出炉。
